Meeting with the Volcanological Guide to receive information on the itinerary to take to reach the top of the 391 m high Gran Crater of the volcano. s.l.m .. Check clothing, shoes and water supply.
The total duration of the climb is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
It starts from Porto di Levante to enter the path flanked by green brooms and a black sandy bottom formed by ashes and lapilli. The first sensation is that of finding yourself in an environment of Dante's inferno, similar to the lunar soil. As you go up, you will be presented with a wonderful panorama with the vision of Vulcanello, Monte Saraceno, Porto di Levante, the port of Ponente, and the island of Lipari. Subsequently, the ground of the path will take on a reddish color.
Continuing, on reaching the Piano delle Fumarole, you will notice a strong smell of sulfur that comes out of the Fumaroles and a curtain of intense smoke and gas that emanates from the yellow ground. At the top, finally, the impressive Bocca del Gran Cratere will appear. Assisted by the Volcanological Guide, it is possible to go around the crater wearing masks to avoid inhaling the sulfur-laden gas.
The show that will be presented will be of indescribable beauty with the view of the bottom of the Gran Cratere, enormous "bread crust" boulders, and a breathtaking view of the entire archipelago. The descent will follow the same path as the ascent.

Trekking on the island of Stromboli.
In the early afternoon, meeting with the Volcanological Guide to receive information on the type of path and route that will be followed for the climb of the Stromboli volcano. Climbing the Stromboli craters is one of the most exciting experiences you can live. The climb to Stromboli is not a simple walk and therefore the ascent is not recommended for people with asthma, heart disease and for those suffering from vertigo as the paths to be covered in some sections are steep with high temperatures in the summer months.
The Stromboli volcano is among the most active in the world, and is monitored 24 hours a day. Access to the volcano is regulated by the Department of Civil Protection, groups cannot exceed more than 20 participants. It takes about 3 hours for the ascent and 2 hours for the descent. During the journey stops of 15/20 minutes, the time spent on top of the volcano on the top of the crater can vary from 30 to 45 minutes.
During the climb you must never leave the group led by the Volcanological Guide.
For safety reasons, the Volcanological Guide reserves the last decision based on the weather and environmental conditions, equipment and physical conditions of individual hikers. Our guides are part of the Regional College of Alpine Guides and Volcanology Sicily.
